Zakopane Conference on Nuclear Physics
Extremes of the Nuclear Landscape
August 30 – September 5, 2010, Zakopane, Poland
We are pleased to announce that the forthcoming Zakopane Conference on Nuclear Physics entitled Extremes of the Nuclear Landscape, 45th in the series of Zakopane Schools of Physics, will be held in Zakopane, Poland, on August 30 -September 5, 2010.
The conference is organized by Henryk Niewodniczanski Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Krakow and Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow.
Details and updated information can be found on the conference web page at: http://zakopane2010.ifj.edu.pl
Scientific program:
The present conference is entitled "Extremes of the Nuclear Landscape". Invited lectures, selected seminar contributions and posters will cover new developments in the study of nuclear phenomena: from low lying shell model states to collective excitations at extreme spins and temperatures, from light to superheavy nuclei, from exotic proton drip-line nuclei to very neutron rich nuclear systems. New opportunities and challenges arising at the radioactive ion beam facilities and the latest experimental methods and apparatus will be presented. We will discuss the role of today's nuclear structure research in the understanding of astrophysical processes and the influence on other disciplines.
We wish to come back to the tradition proposing to everybody but first of all to the Ph.-D. Students and Post-Doctoral Fellows a midnight session which will combine the school-type structure of presentations with the frontier-research profile.
To expand our horizons a special lecture will focus on relations between physics, cosmology and philosophy.
The daily schedule of the conference will be composed of invited talks (duration of ca. 30 minutes) and selected contributed seminars (duration of 15 minutes) in the morning and evening topical sessions. The dedicated poster session will play a key role in the presentation and discussion of forefront research. To promote the discussion of the very latest research, participants not giving a talk are encouraged to present a poster. Poster session will be preceded by a flash (3 minutes) oral presentation of each poster.
